I have received a lot of replies both here and through email on the article I published the other day about the charges of racism against me by Mr. Steve Hampton. Some have asked what they can do about this outrageous and counterproductive behavior by Mr. Hampton. Contacting Audubon Society in its various chapters is probably the best way to share your point of view. He is well respected by them.
Mr. Hampton is a member of The Rainshadow Bird Alliance, the local Audubon chapter. They have been unresponsive to anyone that wants to discuss any point of view but the Tribes’ on this issue as a number of people have tried to get on a monthly meeting or in their newsletter. It appears Mr. Hampton holds sway over this chapter.

Additionally, I would recommend calling or emailing the State and National Audubon Societies and register your displeasure with Mr. Hampton’s behavior. It appears the only way to get the point across is by talking to the people who value his expertise and are likely unaware of his current behavior.

Hi Al, I’m not a birder, but I support the Rainshadow Bird Alliance for their broad environmental vision, the depth and quality of their newsletter reporting, their educational events, including training for the Christmas Bird Count, and the back-breaking work Board members regularly do to maintain the KahTai Lagoon Nature Park. These folks rock! Environmental protection calls for the inclusion of all hands.
Hi Carol, I’ve known those folks for a long time and yes, they do a great job on their newsletter from what I understand. I don’t subscribe to it,but I’ve participated once in the Christmas bird count. I have no fight with the group as a whole, what I I’m talking about here is one particular individual within the group who is using the racism card against people who take a different point of view on the solution to Protection Island and Dungeness spit. If the membership and leadership of Rainshadow can’t reign in this outrageous behavior, I don’t know why anybody wouldn’t want to criticize them for that. This is what we see these days from the Republicans, the far left on Palestinian issues and on Fox News; made up charges against anyone who disagrees with their point of view. It’s corrosive to our society and it’s outrageous behavior. We are hopefully gonna vote some of those people out this week but as far as Mr. Hampton goes, it’s up to us to call on this behavior to end.
