How Guilty Should You Feel About Flying? NY Times

This helps clarify things. The status quo is unacceptable.

Our climate just can’t tolerate widespread frequent flying,” said Dan Rutherford, who directs the council’s aviation program. “At some level we need to figure out, collectively, which flights are necessary, and which are luxuries.”

  1. I think most of us need to stop doing things like flying just to be a drop in the bucket towards making up for all the horrors our generation and past generations have heaped and are heaping on the environment. If I never fly again in my life it will be too soon. When the climate catastrophe has stabilized and we have a sustainable system of living on this Earth in place we can talk about finding sustainable ways of flying again. Do you see sustainability as a possibility in the next 10 years?, 20?,50?…
