Coast getting little radiation from Fukushima disaster – SF Chronicle

Latest data shows no threat to human health from Fukushima at this point in time. It’s worth it to note, that in talking with scientists doing these tests, that their radiation detection methods are capable of tracing radioactivity to the atomic level, and can determine solar vs cosmic vs man made radiation. We are constantly bombarded by solar and cosmic radiation, so there is always a threshold below which is considered normal, and that it is only when readings taken are above this, that scientists and officials become concerned.

Scientists reported Wednesday (January 8th) that low levels of radiation from Japan’s Fukushima disaster first detected off the California coast two years ago have been declining ever since and remain well below any levels considered unsafe for humans.
