The sad reality is we are essentially losing in some of the most key areas. Good news is we now know it and are working on it.

To help convey the status and trends of ecosystem components and how they relate to human activities, ten indicators address the following questions:

  1. What’s happening?
  2. Why is it important?
  3. Why is it happening?
  4. What are we doing about it?
