Port Angeles–Public Comment for Sewer Overflow Project now open

The City of Port Angeles has applied to the Department of Ecology for a water quality permit so that it can build a pipeline for its combined sewer overflow (CSO) project. Ecology is holding a public comment period on the draft permit from April 16 – May 16, 2012.

The proposed National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit requires the city to use measures that will prevent dirty water reaching Port Angeles Harbor during the city’s CSO Project Phase I construction. About half of the two-mile CSO project pipeline will be on the Rayonier Mill property.
