Seminar on Marine Renewable Energy in Puget Sound. August 21st. Port Townsend

Northwest Straits was recently contacted by Washington Sea Grant (Meg Chadsey) to collaborate on a couple of public seminars on marine renewable energy in Puget Sound.

The objective is to share science-based information about the renewable energy options in Washington’s inland waters, focusing on technological, environmental and social feasibility. Presenters from the Northwest National Marine Renewable Energy Center at the University of Washington will provide an overview, lead demonstrations, collect feedback and answer questions.

We have agreed to help with the logistics and promotion and have booked these events for August 8 at Padilla Bay and August 21 at the NW Maritime Center (exact time TBA but likely 6:30-8:30pm). There is an opportunity for the MRC to participate if you’re interested. Similar to the ocean acidifications we held in the past it would be fairly simple – mainly just help promote it with local audiences and have someone from the MRC attend and possibly do a quick intro. They’ll produce the flyer (with your logo) and the Commission will use our newsletter and social media as well.

If you’d like to be involved please let me know. We will add your logo accordingly, and if there is anyone you think would like to attend on the MRC’s behalf that would be great. Thanks!
